Thick rug pads are a necessity for your quality rugs especially when on a hardwood floor. Thick rugs pads will add comfort to your rug while keeping it in place allowing you a comfortable and safe rug.
Why buy thick rug pads?
Thick rug pads will allow you to have comfort when walking on your rug. Some rug pads do not add any cushion whatsoever, but a thick rug pad will add the padding that you are looking for. Some rugs, such as oriental rugs and bamboo rugs, are extremely flat. They need a thick padding to add some cushion.
Rug pads will also protect your floor and rugs. Rugs that are walked on seem to creep or move across the floor. A thick pad will allow the rug to be held in place. This will not bend or fold the rug making the rug last longer. A thick rug pad will also allow you to vacuum your rug much easier since the pad holds the rug in place.
Look for thick rug pads that are about the same size as your rug. You don't want the pad sticking out of the sides of your rug. You also do not want it too small either. If you cannot find a rug pad that fits your rug, like a circular or round rug for example, find a rug pad that is easily cut. There are many rug pads that are a half inch thick that can easily be cut into the size and shape you are looking for.
Be sure to also look for rug pads that are washable. Many are hand washable and will air dry while laid out flat. Although most will not get dirty too fast, it is a good idea to keep your rug padding clean.
