If you dry your rugs in a dryer rubber will lose its moisture in the rubber causing it to crack.
The solution to keeping your rugs lasting longer is to air dry your rugs. Is it as easy as a dryer? No. Does it really extend the rug's life? Yes. It's your choice. If you want to keep the rubber backing lasting long you will take the time to air dry.
What if I don't want to air dry my rugs?
If you don't want to take the time to air dry your rugs or your rugs are already deteriorated, there is a solution besides chucking the rug and buying a new one. One thing you can do is to buy a thin rug pad. A thin non slip rug pad is almost exactly like the rubber backing on any rubber backed rug. This allows you to keep the rugs that still look good but have messed up backs.
