Old rug damage is a not hard to fix... it is just expensive. Old rug damage can easily be replaced by rug weavers if you have the money. Tips to prevent Old Rug Damage
1. One of the most common forms of damage is moth damage as well as some insect damage. This is normally caused by a rug being stored away in a dark place for long periods of time. It is best that if storing a rug you move the rug occasionally from closet to closet. It might not be a bad idea to vacuum the rug as well to not only clean it but get some of the moth and insect eggs out of it. Moths don't eat rugs, but their kids, the larva, do.
2. Another type of common damage is sun damage. This is where the rug is bleached on one side because of direct sunlight. The easiest way to prevent this is to move the rug out of the sun or to turn the rug occasionally so that any bleaching from the sun will be more even over the whole face of the rug.
3. Rugs seem to wear out on one side faster than another. Why? Most of the time this is caused by traffic on the rug over time. You might have a rug that is walked on one side often while the other is not bothered at all. Get a rug pad to prevent it from bunching up and turn the rug 180 degrees about every month or so. This will even any wear the rug might take preventing damage.
