Rug Hooking Frames
Rug hooking frames are the devices that will hold the braids in place when one makes their own rug. These have been used for many years as they make it much easier to make your rugs.
If you are looking into getting into rug hooking or are more experienced, you need to consider the wide variety of frames out there. It’s best to start off with a smaller frame because this will be the frame to use for smaller projects which will be easier for a beginner.
Besides differences in size, there are also differences in styles of frames.
Rug Hooking Floor Frames
Rug hooking floor frames will require a stand to hold them up. Generally these stands will pivot and tilt enough that you can sit in a chair comfortably and have your work right there over your lap. It’s comfortable because none of the weight has to be managed by you.
Rug Hooking Lap Frames
These frames literally sit in your lap. They are much cheaper because they don’t require the stand to go along with them. If you feel comfortable having some weight on your lap while working on your rug, this is a great option.
Table Top Rug Hooking Frames
These frames will sit on top of a table or desk. This is a good option because you probably already have a place in your home that you are comfortable sitting at. Be sure to use a shorter table for this as the frame will lift up the height of your work quite a bit.
Antique and Ornamental Frames
Some get the frames just for looks. There are many antique rug hooking frames available for decoration which may or may not actually work. But if they are ornamental their function doesn’t matter so much.
